Corrosion control for underground pipes in Baltimore, MD & Alexandria, VAOur Services

Corrosion control in underground piping involves preventing, mitigating and managing the degradation of underground pipelines due to corrosion. R&R Contracting supplies crews that will successfully complete projects of all sizes and complexities.

Our approach to corrosion control service includes a variety of tested, proven methods to complete projects on time and within budget while bringing you the desired outcome.

Cathodic Protection (CP)

Sacrificial anode systems: We use metals like zinc or magnesium that corrode in place of the pipeline, thus protecting it.

Impressed current systems: These systems employ an external power source to drive an electrical current that counteracts the corrosion process.

Coatings and Linings

External coatings: Protective layers like epoxy, coal tar enamel and polyethylene tapes are applied to the pipe to isolate it from corrosive soil or water.

Internal linings: Special linings are used to prevent internal corrosion in pipes that carry corrosive substances.

Corrosion inhibitors

Chemicals added to the fluid within the pipeline form a protective film on the metal surface, reducing the rate of corrosion.
